Small Talk With Vino Challenge Organizer

The Florida International Wine Challenge’s main man, Michael Schaefer, sat down to discuss the vino.

Schaefer is the Executive Director of the Florida International Wine Challenge (Better known as FIWC). “This event is amazing because it has such a wide range of wines, areas, styles and grapes. There’s no other like it,” he said.

“Florida, and primarily South Florida, is an erupting, dynamic wine community which likes good food and wine” he said.

A point well taken by many experts who say that Florida is the 2nd largest wine consuming state in the country, behind the obvious vino lover California.

The Florida International Wine Challenge competition, now in its 6th year, was held on June 24th and 25th, at the Palms Hotel in the heart of Miami Beach.

Proceeds from the Florida International Wine Challenge benefitted two worthwhile charities: The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and the Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
