The 11th Annual Rotary Key Biscayne Wine & Food Fest returns to Key Biscayne on Friday, November 20th, 2015 from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
The event takes place at the Fairways on the Key (6700 Crandon Blvd. Key Biscayne, FL 33149) and it will benefit the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation (RCKBF) and its affiliated charities for adults and children.
This year’s event will feature thirteen varietals from the new world which will compete against wines from the old world to earn recognition as “Best of Show” in each class.
The wine-tasting event will continue to feature a unique experience for the wine aficionado: The Rotary Challenge. Eight guests will have the opportunity to act as “consumer judges” and taste both wines in each category. The participants will then decide which wines are the best from each varietal. This Challenge is limited to the first eight (8) people to reply- don’t get shut out of this exciting experience! Consumer judges are asked to provide a charitable donation of $50 towards the event’s fundraising goals.
This annual event represents Rotary’s continuing collaboration with The Arc of South Florida. The Arc will organize the silent auction portion of the evening and will receive part of the proceeds to fund its adult programming. Auction lots will consist of over 100 items including travel, restaurant, sports memorabilia as well as goods and services.
The Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation has designated remaining proceeds to benefit the Fundacion Manos del Sur’s works with Fundacion Stamboulian in Argentina. Headquartered in Miami, Fundacion Manos del Sur is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to underprivileged children in Latin America in the areas of education, health and nutrition.
Rather than each organization holding an independent fund raising event, the Arc of South Florida and Manos Del Sur will work together with Rotary to offer attendees not only a wonderful evening, but an opportunity to support different efforts in our community. The Rotary Club is pursuing matching grants from the local Rotary District and Rotary International to further leverage the charitable impact of this event.
All presented wines have been graciously supplied by Strategic Importers and will be available for sale at the event through El Carajo, the official wine retailer. El Carajo will coordinate all orders, payment, delivery and pick-up and will donate 10 percent of sale proceeds to the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation. A variety of food delicacies prepared by several prominent South Florida restaurants are included in the price of admission.
